The backless evening dress is very eye-catching and sexy. It is particular suited to someone tall and slender. When choosing a backless dress, you need to decide how much skin you want exposed. It is most important that your dress fits perfectly and that the back plunge does not gape. If you need to wear a bra, there is lingerie available that will give your bust the support it needs and with no straps across the back.

However most dresses are made with built in support and if the straps are altered correctly this should be sufficient. If you have long hair you should consider an upstyle for a more dramatic effect.

Structured dresses

The structured dress is flattering to all sizes however the narrow fitted dress is more suited to an hour glass figure. There are many different styles and the fabric used is usually a heavier fabric eg silk dupion, taffeta or sequinned fabrics.

Once you have decided which style suits you best you can then decide whether to go for a halter neck, one shoulder dress, boob tube style, spaghetti straps, criss-cross straps, ruching or jewel accented detail. You can also decide whether to go plain, print or two tone .

There are many colours available this season purple , royal blue ,ruby red, boysenberry and cerise. Yellow has also made its mark on fashion this season (from the subtle shades of lemon to the deeper shades of saffron). You will also find plenty of dresses in Cobalt, Red, Orange and Winter White.

When fitting on a dress always put on a pair of heels .You will be amazed at the difference it will make to the flow of your dress.

3. When purchasing from outsie the EU for example the US be prepared for a bill from the shipping company/revenue commissioners for duty and vat which is normally about 35% of the total invoice amount

4. Even though many foreign sites will offer a returns policy, often it is just too much hassle and not worth the cost to return an item. A lot of sites charge a restocking fee and you are also liable for the return postal costs.

5. Find out the type of fabrics used. Debs dresses made in a jersey fabric or of a fabric with a slight stretch usually have a great fit and worth taking the risk.

6. If you are buying a dress online make sure the basic style you are buying is one that suits your figure.

7. Dresses with a lot of embellishment are difficult to alter and unless you are sure of the size you require we would not recommend that you buy without fitting on.
